Gm's new energy ecosystem will allow customers to manipulate students' energy needs and help mitigate the effects of power outages.

A growing number of large companies in the United States have signed on to receive Energy solutions through GM Energy's portfolio of products and services, and are partnering with GM to expand products through energy ecosystem pilot and development.

Detroit -- General Motors today announced the launch of Ultium Home and Ultium Commercial, which combine with the existing Ultium Charge 360 to create a holistic ecosystem of energy management products and services, Will be managed by a new business unit called GM Energy.
GM Energy's interconnect products and services are dedicated to providing a cohesive energy management system for families, business services and EV customers. The solutions include two-way charging, vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) applications. To stationary energy storage technology, solar products, mobile phone software applications, cloud visualization tools, microgrid solutions, hydrogen energy batteries, etc. The GM Energy service will also enable electric vehicle and mobile battery power to be marketed back to utilities during peak, energy-intensive periods, freeing up a lot of scarcity for customers and increasing the resilience of the grid.
"The reliability of the U.S. electric grid has never been more important," said Travis Hurst, GM's vice president of electric vehicle growth operations. "Ge Energy has the opportunity to help provide sustainable energy products and services that help mitigate the impact of electricity and provide customers with resilient and cost-effective energy management."
The central interface of the GM Energy solution will be GM's Energy Services Cloud, which will contain data and energy management tools to seamlessly connect customers to residential, fleet and commercial energy assets. Customers will be able to manage their energy consumption simply and effectively through GM's energy software application. Gm has signed up electric vehicle customers for managed charging plans through the Energy Services Cloud and has multiple utilities in four U.S. states and growing.
Several large companies in the United States have agreed to partner with GM Energy to provide energy solutions and access products or services to customers.
These include agreements with SunPower, one of the leading providers of solar technology and energy systems in the United States. The two companies will work together to develop and provide customers with a home energy system that will automatically include modular electric vehicle and rechargeable battery solutions, solar photovoltaic panels and home energy storage. One of the basic functions of the estimated home energy system is to enable drivers to use rechargeable batteries in adapted electric vehicles to power the home system, aiming to enable students to power home necessities during power outages or draw energy from stored energy during peak rate periods. SunPower will be the assembler of choice for home energy systems and offer customers the opportunity to assemble solar power at home. The home energy system will be available along with the retail announcement of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV.
Another initiative includes the V2H pilot program between GM Energy and Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), which plans to enable residential customers to use its compatible electric vehicles as well as two-way chargers as backup power for basic household needs during short power outages. After initial laboratory testing, the companies expect to expand the V2H service to select residential customers within the PG&E service area, which is expected to begin in 2023.
GM Energy also works with several other companies, including Con Edison, Graniterock and New Hampshire Electric Cooperative (NHEC), to help provide energy solutions to customers, It also helps inform and advance future GM Energy products.

As part of GM Energy, Ultium Charge 360 will continue to expand its existing portfolio of integrated public charging networks, integrated mobile applications, and other products and services.
